The next day, we ventured around our nation's capital. We started by visiting the White House. We didn't actually go inside, but we walked through Lafayette Park and stopped for pictures in front of the White House. After visiting the White House, we walked to the United States Holocaust Museum, enjoying all the sites along the way.

After the we toured the museum, we rode the bus to the National Cathedral. This cathedral
(below, middle & right) is so huge you can take the Washington Monument (below, left) and lay
it down the aisle in the cathedral.

After Iwo Jima, we toured the United States Capitol. We went through security and then watched a quick movie about the history of the capitol building. After the movie, we toured the capitol with a great tour guide and learned a lot about our nation's history.

When our tour was over, we walked through an underground tunnel to the Library of Congress,
then walked to the Supreme Court building. (below)

After that, we headed to the airport and flew to Dallas, TX, then back home. The week in DC was so much fun, and I recommend it to anyone who likes adventure! We are currently planning another DC trip for 2011, so start thinking about it! More information will be available at the start of the 2009-2010 school year. We are hoping to get more people to sign up for the next trip so we won't have to be put with other schools. Also if we get enough students, we are hoping to travel to New York while on the trip. This trip is open to all grade levels at Champion. Our trips are planned through World Strides. To visit their website click here.
