Table
Mountain
The biology class went to table mountain
on . . . . . . We drove about forty-five minutes to get to table mountain. We
parked and took a group photo. Then we went on our through grassy meadows. Along
the way we passed streams that were full of newts. Some of us held them while
others got squirmish. There were many newts with undersides of bright shades of
orange. The newts were not that quick and were easy to catch. we played with
them but Mrs. Nelson warned us to not play in the water because it was full of
cow excretion.
We went past the
streams and continued on down a steep dirt hill to get to the vernal pools.
The vernal pools were full of water bugs and algae. We jumped across a little
stream and took pictures of eachother. We then drew what we saw in the
pools and went on.
Then
we came to the magnificent waterfall that we had been
walking to get to. It was a small waterfall but it was pretty. It led into a
little pool of water below. Each of us took turns walking up to the waterfall and
taking pictures with our friends. We took lots of pictures, hung out with our
friends and drank water so we would
not become dehydrated. We stayed for about half an hour. We walked back up the
hill which was a lot easier than going down! At last we made it back to the
parking lot.
We wiped ourselves up with some baby wipes because we had touched newts and
other nature things and grabbed out lunches. We sat with our friends, and ate in
peace, looking out on the view. While we ate we drew pictures of animals and flowers. At last it was time to get
back on the road. We threw our empty lunch bags away and any other trash we had
and piled into our cars. We started to drive the 45 minute drive back to school. It was
a fun day and a great experience. Our Class learned a lot and enjoyed a fun day
walking along in the table mountain park.
